Previous PageFOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Glen Burnie, MD. March 18, 2010 - Dixie Printing and Packaging, LLC, a high quality printer of folding cartons for food, pharmaceutical and personal care companies, today announced that it has received Sustainable Forestry Initiative® (SFI®) Chain of Custody Certification (BV-SFICOC-US002739-1) and Forest Stewardship Council® (FSC®) Chain of Custody Certification (BV-COC-150840) from Bureau Veritas.
Bureau Veritas is accredited by SFI and FSC to certify companies to their international standards. Both certifications verify that Dixie meets strict tracking requirements to ensure that certified paperboard used in its facility comes from a well-managed forest. The certifications are a key component of Dixie’s environmental stewardship goals.
Chain of Custody is the process of tracking certified paperboard and its wood fiber back to the sourcing forest - through all processing, manufacturing and distribution stages - to verify that the sourcing forest is responsibly managed through harvesting and replanting efforts. Dixie Printing and Packaging uses numerous types of paperboard derived from these responsibly managed forests to manufacture paperboard-based packaging products for its customers.
We chose the FSC certification because it is globally recognized as the highest environmental standard in forestry, said Gordon Hyde Vice President of Sales & Marketing for Dixie Printing and Packaging. This certification allows us to support forest stewardship and provide our customers sustainable products.
Dixie received SFI and FSC Chain of Custody Certifications following a rigorous audit of its internal procedures. For more information about Dixie’s commitment to environmental stewardship, visit www.dixiebox.com
